KINGSTON (4th March 2026) Chick-fil-A, Inc., the third largest quick service restaurant (QSR) company in the United States, today announced a new long-term food donation partnership with local charity, Moving on Together, ahead of the opening of its new restaurant in Kingston on Thursday 5th March.

The partnership is facilitated through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table programme which aims to help fight hunger and reduce food waste by pairing Chick-fil-A® local Owner-Operators with charitable organisations in their community. Participating Chick-fil-A restaurants prepare and package their surplus food for donation to local organisations to serve those in need.

More than 2,500 Chick-fil-A restaurants in the United States participate in Chick-fil-A Shared Table, along with the brand’s first UK restaurants in Belfast and Leeds. The programme has helped create more than 42 million meals across the US, UK, Canada, Puerto Rico and Singapore to date.

In celebration of the restaurant opening, Chick-fil-A has donated £25,000 to Moving on Together, to support its services dedicated to helping those affected by addiction and hunger across the borough.

“Caring for the communities our restaurants serve is at the heart of Chick-fil-A’s culture, and addressing hunger is one of the most meaningful ways we can make a difference,” said Joanna Symonds, Head of U.K. Operations at Chick-fil-A, Inc. “We’re proud to support local Owner-Operator Connor Ashworth’s new partnership with Moving on Together as we join the Kingston community. Their work providing practical, compassionate support to those in need is truly inspiring, and together we hope to help more people have access to hot meals.”

Moving on Together is a peer-led voluntary support group, founded and run by previous clients of the Kingston Wellbeing Service, who have overcome addiction and now help others navigate their own recovery journeys. The charity provides support, encouragement and advice to anyone affected by or at risk of substance use in Kingston. Its Thursday lunch club, held weekly at Queen Mary’s Hall, Cambridge Gardens, offers a free hot meal, a safe space, and a supportive community for people seeking connection or help.

“We are incredibly grateful to be partnering with Chick-fil-A Kingston through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table programme,” said Ceris Rayner, Chair at Moving on Together. “Our organisation is led by people with lived experience of the challenges involved in rebuilding their lives, and this support will allow us to expand our outreach and ensure that anyone who needs help has a place where they can belong, be supported, and feel valued.”

This partnership is being supported by Neighbourly, an award-winning organisation that helps connect businesses with charities, food banks and community groups across the UK and Ireland, to make a positive impact in their local communities.

Chick-fil-A first launched in the UK in early 2025 with two licensed locations in Belfast, followed by the first locally owned and operated restaurants in Leeds in October. The Kingston opening marks the second of five locally owned and operated restaurants planned in the UK over the next two years.
