Chick-fil-A Partners with St George’s Crypt to Introduce Food Donation Programme in Leeds

October 22, 2025
Chick-fil-A UK has begun working with St. George's Crypt on its Shared Table initiatives.

LEEDS (22 October, 2025)Chick-fil-A, Inc., the third largest quick service restaurant (QSR) company in the United States by sales, today announced a new long-term food donation partnership with local charity, St George’s Crypt, ahead of its new restaurant opening in Leeds on Thursday 23 October.

The Chick-fil-A Shared Table® programme aims to help fight hunger and reduce food waste by pairing Chick-fil-A® local Owner-Operators with charitable organisations in their community. Chick-fil-A restaurants prepare and package their surplus food for donation to local organisations to serve those in need.

This partnership is being supported by Neighbourly, an organisation that helps connect businesses with charities, food banks and community groups across the UK and Ireland, to make a positive impact in their local communities.

“At Chick-fil-A, demonstrating care in the communities we serve is core to our culture and at the heart of everything we do,” said Joanna Symonds, Head of U.K. Operations at Chick-fil-A, Inc. “One of the most effective ways we make a difference in the lives of others is through our Chick-fil-A Shared Table programme, which repurposes leftover food from our restaurants and provides nourishing meals to those who need them most. We are proud of local Owner-Operator Mike Hoy’s collaboration with Shared Table partner St. George’s Crypt to address community hunger in Leeds.”

In honour of the new partnership and to celebrate the opening of its first full-service, locally Owned and Operated UK restaurant, Chick-fil-A will make a donation of £25,000 to St George’s Crypt, to support its ongoing efforts to help those in need within the local community.

St George’s Crypt is a Leeds-based organisation that has been providing vital support to homeless and vulnerable individuals since 1930. The charity operates 24/7 emergency accommodation for people facing homelessness, addiction, and food poverty. It offers essential services including access to showers and clothing, three meals a day, and facilities to support health and well-being. In addition to meeting immediate needs, St George’s Crypt provides practical assistance to help individuals achieve greater independence. Last year alone, the charity served over 65,700 hot meals to those in need.

Chris Fields, St George’s Crypt CEO, said: “St George’s Crypt is delighted to have been chosen by Chick-fil-A to partner in their Shared Table programme. Working closely together, the Crypt and Chick-fil-A can help feed even more hungry and vulnerable people across the city. Building trust and partnerships with corporates and leaders in hospitality is essential for the third sector to help, support and ultimately stop the cycle of homelessness.”

More than 2,500 Chick-fil-A restaurants in the United States participate in Chick-fil-A Shared Table. The programme has helped create more than 42 million meals to date.

“We’re incredibly proud to partner with St George’s Crypt to support those in need right here in Leeds,” said Mike Hoy, local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Leeds. “The charity does truly inspiring work for our community, and it’s an honour to work alongside them. Launching the Shared Table programme in Leeds is an exciting step for us, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to give back in a meaningful way.”

Chick-fil-A first launched in the UK in early 2025 with two licensed locations in Belfast, and the opening in Leeds marks the first of five locally owned and operated restaurants planned across the UK in the first two years.
